What does the programme provide?
Our Green Future Fellowships support academics, entrepreneurs and innovators to develop and scale up their breakthrough climate solutions.
Green Future Fellows each receive:
- Up to £3 million over ten years to develop their ground-breaking climate solutions
- Mentorship from an Academy Fellow
- Bespoke support package
- Access to the Academy’s Awardee Excellence Community

Who can apply?
The programme is open to academics, entrepreneurs and innovators with an idea for a pioneering climate solution who are:
- at a UK-based university, research institute or company
- non-UK-based and interested in relocating to the UK.
Which route is right for you?
There are two routes to apply for a Green Future Fellowship.
Our annual call for applications, which opens each year in September, is open to UK-based applicants and non-UK-based applicants who are looking to relocate to the UK.
Our Green Future Fellowship Accelerated International Route (GFF AIR), launched in August 2025, is open to exceptional non-UK-based applicants whose proposed projects demand rapid progress, whether because of their urgency, strategic importance or the risk of missed opportunities. This route offers an accelerated application and review process to enable rapid relocation and impactful climate innovation in the UK, and will remain open until September 2027.
To be eligible to apply via GFF AIR, applicants must:
- be based outside the UK and interested in relocating
- not currently have a substantive research or innovation presence in the UK
- be a recognised leader in their field or show clear potential to become a leader
- demonstrate why their proposed project warrants consideration on an accelerated timeframe.
