Professor Sir Nishan Canagarajah is President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester. He is an outstanding engineer in signal processing and an inspiring educational leader, fundamentally driven by excellence in research and the wider responsibilities he has held. His personal contribution to engineering has been through several landmark contributions in image segmentation, texture classification and audio signal processing. He has led several successful international research partnerships, served on national and international boards, and acted as a technical consultant to a range of multinational organisations including Sony, BT, BBC, Orange, Thales, and Toshiba.
