Professor Paul Wilcox is arguably the world’s leading expert in array imaging for non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of critical infrastructure, including nuclear, renewables, aerospace and rail transport. His pioneering techniques are used within most commercial ultrasonic array imaging systems, via research links with both multinationals and SMEs. He co-founded the spin-out company, Inductosense Ltd, which won a 2025 King’s Award for Innovation. He has been Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Bristol, Academic Director of the UK Research Centre in NDE, and was awarded the Roy Sharpe Prize (the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing’s top award).
