Professor Moshe Yaakov Vardi revolutionised computer-aided verification by pioneering the automata-theoretic approach, laying mathematical and algorithmic foundations for mechanically verifying that reactive systems meet their specifications. His work serves as the algorithmic basis for several industrial automated-verification tools, which also rely on Professor Vardi’s work on industry-standard languages for verification – Property Specification Language (PSL) and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA). Through an almost two-decade-long consulting relationship with Intel, Vardi has led impactful and widespread tech transfer. Industrial algorithmic verification today is widely used and is largely based on his research and industrial activities.
