Professor Anjan Bose is a pioneer of the modern, computerised control centres that operate and control today’s electric power grids. His team developed the advanced analytical software in the 1970s and implemented the first of these energy management systems (EMS). In the next decade he led the development of the first grid operator training simulators (OTS) for the Electric Power Research Institute which are still used today to train operators around the world. Professor Bose has been an advisor to many governments, including US, India, China, on electric grid operations.
