Mark started his career in the oil and gas sector in reservoir engineering, innovating in reservoir models, flow pressure testing, flow computer simulation tools and full operating capability standards to maximise production. He formed a startup, recognising the benefits of redeveloping depleted oil fields, innovating in engineering, business and taxation models. Later in his career, he migrated to regulation, was appointed to the board of Oil & Gas UK, became Chair of the Office for Nuclear Regulation, and the Management Committee of the Public Chairs Forum. Mark is currently Chair of the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), where he established an Asset Health Unit.
