Professor Simon Hogg is an engineering leader who has held senior roles in academia and industry. As an engineering director in ALSTOM’s power division, he was one of the most prominent engineers in the global steam turbine industry, helping to grow its steam turbine retrofit business to €600 million a year. At Durham University he championed shaping the curriculum to develop and inspire graduates to take on roles within the renewable energy sector. He supports sector growth in the northeast through his leadership position at Energi Coast. He led Durham’s research partnership with Ørsted, which has supported its transition to a green energy company. He is currently an Emeritus Professor at Durham University and works as an independent consultant to the low-carbon energy industry.
