Over the past 25 years, Professor Linda Godfrey has shaped and driven South Africa’s transition to a more circular economy through science, technology and innovation. Working through the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and in partnership with local and international specialists, she has been responsible for many firsts. This includes developing and implementing the South African Department of Science and Innovation’s waste research, development and innovation roadmap and new circular economy science, technology and innovation strategy. Her research has identified and enabled implementation of circular economy opportunities across various resource-intensive sectors. She has also shaped strategic local and international waste and circular economy initiatives.
