Mechan Chair of Engineering and Professor of Aerospace Engineering, University of Glasgow
Professor Konstantinos Kontis is Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Glasgow and is distinguished for his seminal contributions to high-speed flows, plasma flow control, and the development of diagnostics to characterise flow and thermal fields. His work has led to significant cost and efficiency enhancements in industrial applications. Konstantinos’ work has influenced the design of vehicle-landing protocols and mission-critical subsystems for the European Space Agency. In 2021, as director of AIAA, he received the NATO Science and Technology Team Excellence Award. At Glasgow, he founded the Centre for Aerodynamics to accelerate the path to net-zero industry solutions, rejuvenated the engineering academic environment and engaged in activities that reshaped aerospace R&D strategies.
