Professor Andrew Plummer is a world authority on the control of high-performance servo-hydraulic machines and other motion control systems. He leads fluid power and control research at the University of Bath, where he has developed innovative actuation technology for use in aerospace, medical devices and energy-efficient machines. His control methods have enabled new performance levels for products and systems, particularly in the test and simulation industry. Examples include crash-testing catapults, earthquake simulation tables, flight simulator motion systems, and high-speed materials testing machines. He has directed both national and global engineering networks and has promoted effective education in mechanical engineering in his academic and leadership roles.
