Dr Dave Smith is an engineering leader who works at the forefront of innovation and technology. He has a track record in the commercialisation of R&D in the telecommunications, defence and aerospace industries. In his current role as National Technology Adviser, he advises teams in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and ministers across government on engineering policy. This builds on his background in industry and engineering expertise, including five years at Rolls-Royce as Director of Central Technology. His skill in tackling the challenges of commercialising engineering technology at scale is valued across government and industry alike.
