There is a great opportunity for you as an employer to build links to your local FE college through a funded placement of a female technician/engineer in a teaching support role. The ‘Visiting Teaching Engineer’ will enrich the FE engineering curriculum through project work which can be based around/ informed by the activities of your company. VTEs can also arrange site visits to your company where appropriate and guest speakers from engineering or managerial staff. Student awareness of your company, its work and commitment to diversity, will increase. The VTE will gain kudos as an Academy grant awardee and valuable communication skills to future engineers. Successful placements will be publicised on the Academy’s website as exemplars of industry-academia interaction in FE, of which there is currently not enough. The Academy welcomes inquiries from engineering employers, FE colleges and female professional technicians/engineers interested in taking part in the Visiting Teaching Engineers scheme. Please contact Stylli Charalampous for further details. Read more: Visiting Teaching Engineers
